Lightbox is going wilder!

UPDATE: check out a new and working example

The Lightbox JS Script is a great thing to display images on websites. The guys at Particletree extended Lokesh Dhakar’s Original Script to more flexibility, so it can display texts, forms and other stuff. Totally enthusiastic I tried to put Flash into it, with success. Even my Flash Video Streaming Player worked. Take a look:

    Mal ne Frage:

    Was hast du denn dort für nen Videoplayer? Ist das n Standardding aus Flash8? Und was für ein Format ist denn dann der eigentliche Film - .swf oder ein .flv? Wie kann ich denn aus z. B. einem mpeg 1 einen .flv herstellen, falls es eines ist, was ich annehme…

    Fragen über Fragen,… — vielleicht gibts ja ne Antwort.

    Hey Alex,

    der Player ist eine Klasse von mir (momentan noch in der Entwicklung, daher evtl noch ein wenig buggy) auf den ich mal ein Skin vonder Original MM Komponente drübergeschnallt habe.
    Der Film selbst liegt im FLV Format vor. Encoder dafür gibt es mittlerweile einige, vom Adobe Flash Video Encoder über Sorenson bis hin zum On2 Flix (aus dem Hause kommt übrigens auch der VP6 Codec, der im Flash Player 8 schlummert).

    Das Streaming im Hintergrund wird von seperaten Flash Video Streamingserver erledigt, den wir hier im Vertrieb anbieten. Wenn du da auch mal ein wenig was sehen möchtest, mail mich einfach an oder warte noch ein paar Tage, dann gibt es zu dem Thema ne eigene Website mit technischen Details und einigen Demos.

    gibts denn so nen Encoder auch als Freeware? Da ich das Ding halt doch nur für private Zwecke brauche, also dann so zum Spaß, wäre es schön, wenn es ne Freeware gäbe. Ok, für 20 öre oder so lass ich mich auch noch hinreißen..

    Ich dachte ja anfänglich, son Ding wäre im Studio 8 mitdrin, aber denkste! Zumindest hab ich keines entdeckt, oder einfach nur zuwenig gesucht. ;)

    Ja, also sehen about Streamingserver würd ich schon gerne mal, interessehalber.

    @Bugtracking - Jetzt beim zweiten Besuch auf deinem Blog habe ich nochmals die Springbreak-Videos ankucken wollen, habe aber nur das abgedunkelte Browserfenster mit den beiden Close-Buttons bekommen mit Sound aber ohne Film. Ich habe seit dem letzten Besuch nichts verändert, lediglich den Cache geleert. Ich browse mit Firefox und ähnlichem Ungetier wie Seamonkey, auf WinXP schau aber später auch mal mit nem iMac vorbei..

    All I get is the ‘close’ link in Firefox 1.5.0.1 (Mac). As I click close, I can see for just a second a grey box appear where the flash would be.

    - Alex - Einen Freeware Encoder kenne ich leider nicht. Ich habe mich schon gewundert, dass es einen von Sorenson gibt. Bislang dachte ich, dass das Hoheitsgebiet von MM/Adobe und On2 waere.
    Den Fehler bekomme ich hier auch ab und an. Ich habe noch keinen Plan woran das liegen koennte.

    I have to second the complaint made by anathema. All I get is a grey layer above your blog page, no video, no fun stuff, no nothing. :-(
    For a moment there I thought, cool, he made a script - probably JS/CSS - that greys out the browser window. But then, on a closer look, it wasn’t that cool at all! ;-)

    Maybe you’d want to mention what hardware and software are required to enjoy whatever there is to enjoy.

    Yeah, that’s why I wrote, that the links are very experimental stuff. I’ve got just a very small testing environment (only a few computers). So I decided to post the links for a few other people to test this.

    Right now, I really don’t know, why the Flash is sometimes displayed and sometimes it is not displayed, but I want to find out, because that technique could be used for a very cool media player. In the next days I’ll try a few other approaches to fix this, maybe then you’ll get something to enjoy ;)
